Just as the pain and scars of my Portuguese-Man-of-War stings from my Oahu to Kauai swim attempt begin to subside and I go through the mental battles, should I, could I have possibly stay in and continued my swim? (I know the answer to that is absolutely not, but the mental arguments persist regardless).
Steven Munatones writes yet another exceptional report on a team of swimmers attempting to swim the Sea of Cortez who were also halted by Portuguese-Man-of-War jellyfish.
“Nora was seriously attacked by jellyfish. They stung her repeatedly on her arms, stomach and legs, paralyzing her.”.”
“When we pulled her out of the water, it looked like acid was poured on her body
Nora,(and the team) I know how you feel, I NEVER thought I’d be stopped by jellyfish, I get stung regularly, but these jellyfish stings are different, they are very, very painful and make you very sick. I hope you recover quickly.
Steven, thank you for your wonderful work and support of all open water swimmers. http://www.dailynewsofopenwaterswimming.com/2010/05/victorious-defeat-in-sea-of-cortez.html
